Relics of a life.

I have some photo albums and scrapbooks that belonged to my late maternal grandmother. My mom was looking for one particular photo, so I got out the albums and scrapbooks tonight to see if I could find it. I didn't, but I've been just reveling in the glimpses I get of her life through these things. Two of the scrapbooks are from high school and her one or two years of college, and the first year or so after colllege. This is in the mid- to late 1930s. Invitations to parties, notes about what they ate (one of which, after listing cocoa and cake and various other things, ended with "Indigestion"), souvenirs from a trip to the 1934 World's Fair in Chicago, newspaper clippings, all kinds of stuff.
I just opened another scrapbook and found newspapers from the Kennedy assassination. There are also several stamp albums. I wonder if those are worth anything -- not that I'd really sell them.
There are so many stories I wish she were still here to tell me.

One thing I hope to do is organize my own memorabilia. Maybe blogging will help perpetuate a record for future generations to know who we were.
