Boy, this is hard. Some of these are very fuzzy.

I met bookishfellow before anybody else on my friends list. We met during my freshman year in college, his senior year -- about midyear, as I remember it, which would be around January of 1989.

ceo and I were housemates for the year 1995-1996, but we actually met for the first time at a Boston Callahanian gathering -- the infamous "purple hands" RS when Tink came to visit. Now, what year was that? I was still living in the apartment on Western Ave, I remember that, so it has to have been 1993-1995 sometime. I want to say it was '94, but I'm not sure of that. We met when I was sitting outside Faneuil Hall with a big sign saying "REALSPACE" and he walked up.

I don't actually know chrysoula personally. I have her on my friends list because of a game she's running that tahnan got me into.

clairaide I met at some Callahanian gathering, but I honestly don't remember for sure which one or where now.

I met claudia_ for the first time in the fall of 1993 at the computer lab. We'd known each other online for a while, but we hadn't met before in person. We later discovered that we had almost certainly been in the same physics class in 1988 or 1989, but never met then.

crossfire_ and I first met one summer while I was in college... must have been about 1991. It was at a party in Boulder that was, I think, at his apartment. It was a gathering of Star Trek: The Crouton Generation participants, and he opened the door when I arrived. I remember being very nervous because there was only one person there I'd ever met in person.

As davehogg and claudia_ have both pointed out, I met Dave in February of 1995 when Dave tripped his way through a revolving door at Logan Airport as Claudia, calico and I were waiting for him with a banner, yellow roses, and balloons.

I met drdemure over Memorial Day weekend when I went to visit davehogg. I don't remember which year that was. I was working at Houghton Mifflin, in the math department, so it has to have been 1997-1999 sometime. She didn't know I was coming, though Dave did.

I've never met greyman in person, alas. Ditto for kayre, kshandra, and otherbill.

juliansinger was another of my housemates in 1995-1996. As far as I know, we hadn't met before then.

I'm not sure exactly when I met lemurtanis for the first time, but it's sometime since 1998, and it was at some puzzle-related event. Possibly the NPL convention in Montana in 1999, or the 1999 or 2000 Mystery Hunt. Edit, later: No. Duh! We met for the first time when we were both in Trial by Jury at MIT during January 1998. How could I have forgotten her memorable turn as the Counsel?

I met mlstrm at a puzzle event, too, but again I'm not sure which one. Most likely the NPL convention in Atlanta in 1998? If not, certainly by the time of the one in Montana.

tahnan and I must have met at the Mystery Hunt in January 2000.

I met thedan at a puzzle event, but again, I'm not sure which one. Certainly by the time of the 2000 Mystery Hunt, but probably before then. (And I'm sorry I left you off the list originally, Dan! Didn't mean to!)

I met wcg at a Boston Realspace, which he says was in 1995. I'll believe that, though I couldn't honestly have told you when it was.

ztbb is another puzzle guy whom I must have met at a Mystery Hunt, probably 2000 again, though I'm not sur

Nope. We hadn't met before then. I can't actually remember meeting you the first time, though I must've met you before we agreed to be housemates. The best I can do is that horrific moving-in day, when benji and Chip and I moved all our stuff together, you moved your stuff in /after work/, and then we all crashed on separate mattresses in the kitchen, that night. Thud. Zzz.

There was one time when I think all of us met at the Someday Cafe in Davis to decie whether I'd be an acceptable roommate. :)

But I sure do remember that move-in day. Good god was that insane.

ISTR that I wasn't at that Someday Cafe gathering because I was out of town that week, but I already knew you'd be an acceptable roommate.

That was the move where I dropped a 200+-pound conference table off a second-story roof almost onto juliansinger's head. And it didn't improve much from there. =:-O

Random question: Is there an easy way to make the little [person icon + link to username] thing? Everybody else seems to use them often in their LJs, but I've never been able to make one.

Probably Mystery Hunt 1999 or 2000. I was at every one since 1998... 1999 was my first as an NPLer and I made Sprout introduce me to everybody. I didn't start coming to Stamford until 2000.
