(1) Don't have boffer practice with someone whose boffer isn't quite up to code.

(2) When you have a banged-up spot by your eye, don't rub your eyes.

(I took a boff to the glasses from someone who needed to fix the tip of his sword on Tuesday, and wound up with a red sort of stripe below my right eyebrow. Sheesh. Not sore particularly, except when I accidentally rub it.)

Now you just have to make up a cool story to go with your wonderful wound (I have to say, it looks wicked cool). Something like "No, sh!t. There I was facing ten slobbering orcs...."
