LARPy bits.
In the tradition of
gnomi's rambly bits, it's LARPy bits -- some random accumulated thoughts after the first two events of the season.

- It's nice to be back to more or less full mobility. I'm not especially agile (and never was), but it is nice to be able to run around without quite so much worry.
- Combat's fun. I wouldn't want to get into fights in the real world, but man, it can be cathartic beating up on a monster. And spitting out "ye bastard!" after the deathstrike feels pretty good too, sometimes.
- I am starting to get better at boffer combat. I'm not good, not compared to a lot of people (
metagenie,
residualentropy,
gothicnomad,
torilgrey, just to name a few...), but I have improved.
- Playing two games is fun, because it's neat to see familiar people in different roles. But it is a bit odd to have, say,
hariyos patching me up after a fight.
- Bad accents are fun. So is trying to speak softly all the time, even if I don't always succeed.
- Very little feels as good as a shower at the end of a wet, active LARP weekend.
- There are times when in-game magic really feels magical, particularly when we're doing rituals. I love that feeling. I'm a pretty rational person, but there's something very appealing about letting something mystical happen. Even if it's all just play-acting.
- New England woods in the fall? Yum. Even in the rain.
- Mist and a close-to-new moon = serious darkness, and great atmosphere.
- I am so addicted to this hobby now. I wonder why it took me as long as it did to try it.

Well, from what I've seen of yout LARP posts, it seems like something I'd be into. Not that I'd have the time. I mean, hey, I'm only going to King Richard's Faire on the 7th. And I'm generally fascinating by things like that.

It is so weird being the healer. I think I kind of like it. As long as I don't have to be one of those pansy healers that runs for the back lines when things start going all pear shaped, I think I would enjoy it.

And yeah, being a healer doesn't mean you have to be a pansy. (Hell, how often was Sinduri near the front lines?) You just have to pick your battles.
