tahnan found this reference to abecedary as a plant. Next question: what the heck is the isle of Fernalus, and can I find any reference to "children's grass"?

The reference he found is from another language of flowers list. Which makes me wonder if that list, which is earlier than the one I got the name from, was the source for my later list.

But it is the only thing I've found yet that had any description of abecedary as a plant. Albeit a description that raises as many questions as it answers. :) I foresee a trip to the Boston Public Library in my future!

Yes, and there's clearly a lot of copying from one list to another. But this actually does refer to a plant, though one that sounds at least quasi-mythical....
