Rox and Sox.

For those of you who haven't been following the comments to my earlier post, I present the ongoing Seussian saga of the Rox and Sox, as developed thus far by me, [livejournal.com profile] rikchik, and [livejournal.com profile] lehser.

Rox.
Sox.
Box.
Fox.
Rox are jocks.
Sox are jocks.
Rox on Fox.
Sox on Fox.
Rox at Sox.
Sox at Rox.
Rox and Sox are jocks on Fox.

Fans with balls come.
Fans with bats come.
Fans with balls and bats and hats come.

Let's watch games with balls and bats.
Let's watch games with fans in hats.

Fans with hats watch Rox at Sox.
Fans with bats watch Sox at Rox.

Balls on walls bounce.
Sox on balls pounce.
Rox on balls that bounce off walls pounce.

Matt with bat in box for Rox.
Matt with bat hits knocks for Rox.
Dice throws at the box for Sox.
Dice does not want walks for Rox.

New Rox.
New Sox.
Whose Sox?
Youk's Sox.

Who knows Tulo's Rox are jocks, sir?
Youk knows Tulo's Rox are jocks, sir.

Who comes?
Schill comes.
Striking Schill comes.

Who sees Schill's strikes?
Smith sees Schill's strikes.
Striking Schill sees whose swings?
Smith's swings.

Schill throws strikes at swinging Rox now.
Swinging Rox hit balls to Sox now.

[ETA: It needs an ending. Thus:]

When the Rox and Sox do battle with a double and a triple
And the battle has a batter and a pitcher in a pickle,
This is what they call...

A dandy double triple trouble pitcher pickle
Fickle fielding batting battling Rox and Sox, sir!

Balls from parks will soon be gone, sir --
Rox and Sox, the game is on, sir!

You don't know me, here via a pointer from [livejournal.com profile] ceo...

Brilliant! I was waiting for someone to write this, it's begging for it. I forwarded your link to some of my Fenway co-workers. =)

Do any of you have any contacts at Fox? You could probably make it on their pregame show with this. :-)

I was going to say the same thing. Any e-mail addresses on the website?

Well done.

Seth Smith has just become the most obscure player to ever make it into a Dr. Seuss World Series preview.

Not that that is a long list...

(After his ALCS performance, is Youk now the Greek God of Sox?)

I love the parody! Oh, and just for the sake of trivia: Seth Smith is a Rockie, not a Rocky.

Is he a rookie Rockie, perhaps?

It seems that "Seth Smith" is a name you could do something with. It's a bit like "Luke Luck".

Seth Smith is batting sixth....

I barely recognize the proper nouns in this, but I'm tempted to construct a video for YouTube based on this. I would need someone to create or point me at lots of appropriate images. And maybe someone with a better reading-voice-for-this-kind-of-thing than mine. And music, maybe. And of course, permission from the authors.

Sadly, I probably don't have time to do it... I'll be out of town this weekend. But it's tempting anyway.

Going along with [livejournal.com profile] davehogg, I feel you should definitely throw "walks" in with Rox, Sox, etc... If your accent allows it to rhyme.

I've also had "Matt with bat in box for Rox" running through my head all day, referencing Holliday. If only I could come up with an appropriate rhyme for Fogg.

This is wonderful! [livejournal.com profile] chenoameg sent me here via this (http://astra-nomer.livejournal.com/174331.html). Mind if I link to you, too?

Sheer eloquence. :D

(Alas, poor Rox, I do not think your stomping my faltering Dodgers into the ground the last month of the season is going to help you much now... it was a valiant run, though!)

Love it!
