Why did I even bother coming in to work today? I really should have called in sick. After staying for all of strike, which didn't finish till midnight or so, and then putting in an appearance at the cast party (mm, food...), and then getting home and scrubbing off the last of the makeup, it was 1:30 or after before I ever got to bed. And it's not like there's so incredibly much work to do.

Random collection of observations:

- Good shows this weekend too. Saturday night was the video, and for once I think we got the best show (or certainly one of the best) on tape. No major disasters, at least until [livejournal.com profile] stevie_stever's pants decided to malfunction just in time for his last entrance and the bows. Fortunately he was able to hold onto them.
- Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] stevie_stever, [livejournal.com profile] cycon, and N for indulging my whim to call my mom (who ended up not coming for the show) to sing her a verse of "Strange adventure" over cell phone. She liked that. (And I am still flabbergasted that, basically every time we sang that quartet, in rehearsal or performance, we were on pitch when the orchestra came back in. Damn, we're good. :) )
- My skin is rebelling at all the makeup, or actually more at the scrubbing required to get it off. Maybe the time has come to treat myself to my first facial.
- The show really was that good. It was visually stunning, thanks to the inordinately talented tech crew, and it sounded fabulous, and the interpretation of the show was, I think, excellent. Yeomen has so much more well-rounded characters than most G&S, and I think the cast responded to that and gave very full performances.
- Our Elsie, taking over the part a week before opening, rocked the house.
- One of the best things about doing this show was getting to spend time with people I know and like ([livejournal.com profile] greenlily, [livejournal.com profile] mister_nick, [livejournal.com profile] red_queen, [livejournal.com profile] mixedborder, et al.) -- and getting to know and spend time with people I either didn't know at all, or only slightly ([livejournal.com profile] stevie_stever, [livejournal.com profile] ladypsyche, [livejournal.com profile] tenore, [livejournal.com profile] cycon, among others). I need more human contact in my life. It's far too easy for me to get solitary, and that's bad.

Now, to.... um... stare at the computer and wait for something to work on?

Meme.
