Kitchen adventures.
Dec. 7th, 2008 03:11 pmI find myself with an abundance of oranges and a large Ghirardelli "candy making and dipping" bar (courtesy of Cousin A, who found it at BJ's), so on something of a whim, I decided to try making chocolate-dipped candied orange peel. The candying process turns out to be more involved than I knew, but it was fun. I don't know if I did it right, as the resulting candied peel seem stickier than I'd expect, but chocolate covers a multitude of sins.
I also now have a sizable amount of leftover orange-peel-infused sugar syrup that really ought to be good for something. Any suggestions?
Still on today's agenda: making gingerbread cookie dough and trying a recipe for drop cookies with dried cranberries and orange frosting. Think I probably won't get to the first batch of potica today, but we'll see.
