Behold the date: of April, twenty-third.
A day renowned in literary life --
Or literary death, I might have said.
For Shakespeare, glorious Bard of Avon's shore;
And Wordsworth, poet of a later age;
Cervantes too, the master-wit of Spain --
All on this day in April met their ends.
The Spanish call it "Books and Lovers Day,"
On which the maids and men, in pleasant sport,
Exchange both books and roses with their friends
(Or lovers, as the holiday declares) --
A practice much worth following, I think.
But we, we scribblers of the wired age,
What can we do to honor poets past?

Let's write our blogs in blank verse for a week!
The week containing April twenty-third,
To honor Shakespeare's life and works of art,
Let all your blogs be writ in iambs five
(Per line, that is). You needn't write in rhyme,
For blank verse needs no corresponding sounds --
'Tis meter only makes it what it is.
A FAQ is here if details you need more.

To comment in said five iambic feet.
For what it's worth, I've happened on a joke
That lends itself quite well to this same form:
"Knock, knock."
"Who's there?"
"Boo."
"Boo who?"
"Now, don't cry!"
