Ladies and gentlemen, this is MY city!
May. 17th, 2004 09:15 amI don't typically think of myself as a New Englander. I cling to my Colorado roots and my western sensibilities as much as I can, despite having lived in Massachusetts for basically my entire adult life (and indeed, for more than half my life, total).
But today, I am proud as all hell to live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, first city in the country to issue fully legal marriage licenses to homosexual couples. I couldn't go last night to the celebrations outside the courthouse, and I'll probably always regret not being there to be part of history, but today, I am thrilled and proud to be a Cantab.
So here's to equal marriage, and long life and joy to those who are finally able to take advantage of it.
