Well, here we are: the week for blank verse blogs
Has come at last, so let the fun begin.
Is it just me? I find it rather odd
When I'm at work, ensconced in some cafe
(The Diesel, to be accurate), and then
Some person comes to me with friendly face,
And says, "How are you? What's been up these days?"
They seem to know me (or they think they do),
But I have no idea who they might be!
This happened twice this weekend (yesterday)
Within a bare few hours. Are my mind
And memory in trouble? I don't know,
But chance encounters like those make me fear
They may be. Or perhaps it's just the work,
Distracting me. I've lots of work to do.
The math from hell continues, and on top
Of that, I have some science tests to write.
And then, of course, Enigma begs my time.
(Though now production's got the latest batch,
So I can ease my mind on that a bit.)
I never wrote of Legends' last event,
But that is due to laziness, not ire.
It was a blast, as always; I have plot!
I had to gamble with a fae named Chance
To get the thing I needed. It was quite
A scary venture! But I won, at last,
And who knows what will happen next? I don't!
I hope the next event will be less wet,
But equally exciting in its way.
Today is Easter. I rang bells today,
Both handbells for the prelude and the hymns,
And tower bells. (Not proper ones with ropes,
Perhaps, but worth the ringing all the same.)
My own religious views are rather -- well,
Let's say 'amorphous' -- but I do enjoy
The burst of joy and praise that comes each year
On Easter Sunday, and the message that
Redemption is still possible, and hope
Is worth the keeping, even in a world
Where things seem hopeless, more so day by day.
And when it comes to pure unfettered joy
And praise, the Easter music has no peer.
The "Hallelujah Chorus" filled the church
With power, joy, and glory, all at once.
(That sounds so trite. Well, chalk it up to verse;
It's hard to talk about it writing so.)
I think I'm babbling, even in blank verse --
At any rate, it's time to go to bed.
