Fifty years ago yesterday, Edward R. Murrow's "See It Now" broadcast challenging Senator Joseph McCarthy aired. It was one of the most important broadcasts in television history; while it wasn't the end of McCarthy, it was certainly an important part of the end.
Walter Cronkite reflected on the event and the times around it on NPR. It's well worth listening to.
