Things I did this weekend that I'd never done before:

  • Used a jigsaw. (To cut out tops for barstools for the set; I felt like one of the homeowners on Trading Spaces having Amy Wynn show them how to use the power tools.)
  • Tap danced on a stage.
  • Saw people heading to celebrate the Red Sox winning the World Series. (And how odd that still sounds!)
  • Had water leak through my ceiling. (My landlady was apparently refilling the furnace but forgot to turn the water off, or something. A couple of stains on my bedroom ceiling, and a lingering smell, but no serious damage, fortunately.)
  • Held a chuppah for a wedding. Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] tahnan and [livejournal.com profile] leighjen, who looked so very, very happy.

Questions I had this weekend:

  • Why would someone build a set shop that doesn't have a sink?
  • How can I stop my apartment from smelling musty? (See aforementioned ceiling leak.)

Between heels at the wedding and five hours of rehearsal last night, my legs are killing me today. It's going to be a very long week. And I think I better not talk most of the week, as my voice is still a wreck after the cold (and spending yesterday afternoon breathing sawdust and paint fumes).

This is directed at those who are planning to come see Anything Goes:

First, please buy your tickets in advance! The second weekend, in particular, may sell out. And we could use more audience for opening weekend! Visit www.encoreboston.org or talk to me in person to get tickets.

Second, for those coming by T: There is a free shuttle bus that runs from the JFK/UMass Red Line stop to the UMass campus. It runs until 10:15 on weekdays and 7 on Saturdays -- so not very useful on Saturdays, and not for getting back to the T. However, all is not lost! The #8 MBTA bus runs from Kenmore Square, via Ruggles, to JFK/UMass and then to the UMass campus. So it's 90 cents rather than free, but it goes just the same place as the shuttle does, and runs much later at night (well after the show ends).
