Monday miscellanea.
Feb. 7th, 2005 12:27 pm- Gmail has been down all morning. If you need to reach me urgently, e-mail me at work. (My full first name underscore my full last name at mazer dot com.)
- This time last week, I wasn't planning on auditioning for Yeomen. This time this week, I'm set to reprise my first ever lead role as Dame Carruthers! It's been nine and a half years since I played the role for the first time, over at Harvard G&S. At that point, I had just started working at Houghton Mifflin and had just moved into Mystic House in Medford, still had Buttercup the VW Vanagon, hadn't heard of the NPL beyond perhaps a passing reference in Games, hadn't started voice lessons, was still singing in the church choir and directing the handbell choir, was nominally on a year-long leave of absence from grad school, and didn't yet know most (though not all!) of the people on my friends list. How things change.
- I woke up Saturday morning feeling a bit chest-congested. Now my throat's a little weird and my voice is questionable. Usually my colds start in the head and migrate downward to settle in the chest, but this one seems to be going the other direction.
- It's kind of sad when 40 degrees feels balmy.
- I attempted homemade tortillas yesterday -- not very authentic ones, as I used a recipe that called for both cornmeal and wheat flour, and used blue corn meal instead of yellow. The texture wasn't quite right, not pliable enough, but they tasted okay with black beans and rice.
- Does anyone know of someplace around here that regularly carries the 25-pound bags of King Arthur flour?
- I think I just ran out of things to say.
