Theatrical ponder.
Apr. 20th, 2007 10:13 amAuditions for a production of Into the Woods.
Into the Woods: Yay! Love the show, has several good parts for me.
Performances late July: Yay! Doesn't hit Con or LARP season.
Auditions and performances in Arlington Center: Sure, I can do that.
Rehearsals in Reading: Ack.
Claim to be commuter rail accessible. Do I really want to do a show that requires taking the commuter rail?
Might audition anyway. Two contrasting songs, not from the show... must ponder what to use. Been a while since I auditioned for anything Sondheimish.

Conversations that change your life.
Apr. 20th, 2007 02:13 pmSomewhere around now, five years ago, I was sitting in the Diesel Cafe having coffee with
cramerica and gabbing about anything and everything. I was burbling about Otherworld, which I'd been to the previous fall, and he said, "Hey, you should try this thing called Legends that I've been playing."
While it doesn't rank quite as high in terms of life-changingness as the backstage conversation with
aneequs that led to my joining the NPL, it certainly did change my hobbies. :) I came to LARPing later in life than most, but it's been a very good thing for me. It's been a creative outlet, a source of new friends, a source of physical activity, and a superb stress relief. Occasionally an obsession, too, but hey, we all need a dose of that now and again. :) And I think it's made some positive changes in the way I deal with the real world, too.
So thanks, semicuz, for getting me to go to that first game. And to all the many of you out there reading this who've contributed to my obsession. :) Hard to believe it's been five years.
(Yes, I'm procrastinatory at work today, which explains the heavy posting rate. :) )
