Things I learned at Legends this weekend:

- The new boots work very nicely indeed.
- If I ever need to bargain for something important, I'd better bring someone along. I am a really bad negotiator.
- Sometimes my gut instincts are right, even when they go against other people's.
- The pretty blue fabric I used to make packets isn't entirely colorfast.
- I need to get in better shape, and learn to move more quickly.

Was a pretty good event, all told. Started slow, but then got very busy. I think we were stupid at one point, and I don't like making mistakes through being dumb, but oh well. (No, I can't explain more fully, not till this plot wraps up!) I have a bruise the size of a saucer on my shin that I don't remember getting, but I bang myself up regularly at these things.

And now, the meme, from several people:

Why am I on your friends list?

(Silly answers and serious ones equally welcome.)

I'll go you one better - you're the reason I have a friends list and an LJ at all. I didn't know about the existence of friends-only posts, and you referenced one in a general post, and eventually explained to me that I could sign up for LJ just to have a friends list, which I did. And eventually started posting some blather there as well...

Because I finally got to know you at MITGASP's Yeomen of the Guard, and you mentioned having an LJ, so I put you on my friend's list.

Because you are my longest continuous on-line friendship, you are one of the most interesting and kind people I have ever met, and because, well, it is where you belong.

Also, someday, you will be corrupt, and I want to be there to see it.

Wait, which friend is this? And what list of theirs am I on? I don't like the sound of that....

'Cause I think you're great (although the fact that I know you at all would have been enough :-)

I noticed that you were posting in [livejournal.com profile] davehogg's journal, and I realized who you were, so I added you. It's been a delight to follow.

When I created my livejournal, I set a firm policy that I would only add, as friends, people whose's lj names started with a letter between a and m (non-inclusive). Nevertheless, I rather foolishly used the password to my lj as the answer to a puzzle, posted elsewhere, which used entries from my lj as clues, and while I figured someone would just get the answer and post it, I didn't think anyone would try to use it as the password for my lj, but they did. Consequently, they friended about sixteen hundred people, which took me forever to clear out. The problem was that they had in fact friended only people from a through m, non-inclusive, which meant that leaving my friendslist like that would always be a reminder of the cruel joke someone had played on me, and so I vowed to expand my friendlist beyond those letters. Thus, in the process of cleaning up, I started adding people from later in the alphabet (as well as a few who started with "a"). Of course, this didn't include you. Nevertheless, in the process, I found that I had set up a follow-up puzzle, in which I could use one letter from each name on my friendslist, in alphabetical order; except that I needed an "x" somewhere in the middle of the s's. So I friended you, and posted the puzzle, this time with an answer that had nothing to do with my lj password. After the puzzle, it seemed too much effort to remove you.

Because we once had an extended email conversation stemming from a conversation in a.c, back when you were Valentine (or was it Kabeta? Gwenllian??) and before I was Bill (no, that other one).

Hard to believe that was over ten years ago.

Because I am so glad to keep in touch with you in cyberspace!

(Btw: tahnan, you are a nerd. I mean that in the best way.)

I can't even imagine a world in which you are not on my friends list. It is simply a requirement. Duh. :)

I got an LJ account to play John Ratite's Weblog. I learned about friends lists within the game, i.e. the goal was to stay on John Ratite's friends list. After I got voted out of the game, I realized LJ was a good way to keep up the gang, so I made my own friends list and put you on it.
