Flicker of memory.
Jun. 26th, 2006 11:17 amSomething in someone else's journal made me think of this: They used to put pictures on sugar packets. I remember particularly the packets in a Flagstaff, Arizona restaurant when I was in ninth grade that had illustrations of Hopi kachina dancers. But I remember there used to be other ones in other restaurants.
Does anyone do that anymore? I haven't seen a sugar packet with a picture on it in years.

Date: 2006-06-26 04:03 pm (UTC)They still do this in Europe--of course, it tends to be sugar cubes over there. I used to collect them when I was younger, because they'd often have really cute pictures. A year or two ago I ran into trouble trying to save some because I just put them in my backpack, forgot about them when I got home, and then got caught in the rain with sugar cubes in my outside backpack pocket... Oops...

I remember though, when my cousins moved into this big hiuse several years back, in the attic were old LIFE magazines and a bunch of HOODSIE lids with pictures on them. That was pretty nifty, I thought.

Date: 2006-06-26 09:01 pm (UTC)The first time GAMES magazine had a scavenger hunt as their monthly contest, one of the things required was "A sugar packet with a picture of a woodpecker". I remember using this as an excuse to go back to Providence, since the sugar packets at the Brown dining halls had pictures that included a woodpecker.
