Because work is bleh and my mind is wandering:

What the hell am I going to wear to the Legends winter feast? It was clear by the end of the fall that certain elements of my costume are notably too big now.

What type of costume was it?
I'm assuming this is some sort of Renn thing, but not 100%...
Did you have a colour/theme?

Oooh! Very nice!! I have seen that seller's stuff and drooled over it many times. I have a red (well, maroon) velvet with creme accents renn gown that I got on ebay a few years ago and I have no idea if it still fits me or if it would fit you... it is one piece, and is not long sleeved, but it is very heavy.
If you would like, I can take a look for it (I think there are only one or 2 places it could be at this point) and you could try it on. You'd be more than welcome to alter it if you thought it would be something you could use.

I take it fixing up those parts of your costume is out of the question?

Hmm for a feast? Depends on how dressy your character would go (since I've never met her :( ) Comfort is key for me in any costuming I wear/make. Wine and grey is a nice color combo. If you could find some sort of plaid cloth (flannel is always nice) that matched one if not both those colors(if I remember you said you were Loch Maben). Plaid pants are awesome and comfy and so fast to make its really not even funny. Sean wanted blue as the main color for his MJ shaman. So I did plaid blue and green poofy pants (not completely intentional- I have a habit of making legs too wide but it worked out) and a blue fake linen shirt with simple blue and black celtic ribbon on the sleeves (fake linen is the bomb imo. Almost better then raw silk for shirts). Didn't take more then 3 hours to get the whole outfit done and I think its one of the best looking ensembles I've ever dressed him in. Some suggestions:

-Use fake linen (looks nice and is easy to use, seriously love this stuff)
-Add ribbon to shirt/pants. (couple bands on the bicep of the sleeve slightly spaced apart always looks nice and celtic ribbon is cheap on ebay.)
-Vests are also wicked simple to make and can look nice. Of course never underestimate the power of fake velor furniture fabric for a cheap simple bodice/vest thing that looks great.
-soft flannel plaid pants can also double as pj bottoms. :D

Hehe not sure if any of that helps but there ya go. :D

I might have a bodice that would fit you. It's long and I still have to lace it as tight as it will go now and even then it's loose. It's not black but it could work.

Otherwise? Moresca can ship fast if you ask them. Look for stuff they are discontinuing; I got a bridesmaid dress from them and I love it.
