It seems I'm being sent on a business trip.

To Dayton, Ohio.

For two weeks. (Starting Monday.)

Yeep.

Ha! What in the world is there? (Aside from it being where I was born -- I bet you didn't know that.)

Agh!

I consider it rude of a company not to give at least a week's notice for such things. Are they paying you extra?

Oh dear. We will miss you for sure. Is this going to mess up your Ragtime rehearsal commitments?

Oooh, excitement. Dayton, that place of...wonder and mystery. Or something like that. Admittedly, the extent of my knowledge of Dayton at the moment is that there is a Cracker Barrel there. :)

You have my sincerest sympathy. Most of Ohio I'm happy to give a positive plug for, but I've just had too many family reunion type things in Dayton. Where I lived in Columbus, there were a lot of kids whose families were from Dayton. Basically, it's a place people leave. Maybe it's improved in recent years, though, who knows.

You could visit the slum that was a nice neighborhood 100 years ago where my great-great-grandmother lived next door to the Wright Brother's bicycle shop...

If you happen to have ample free time, Columbus is just an hour away...

Well...it will give you a chance to practice your crossword puzzles!
Lots and lots.
Take one of those inch-and-a-half-thick omnibuses of NYTimes puzzles.
