Oooh, excitement. Dayton, that place of...wonder and mystery. Or something like that. Admittedly, the extent of my knowledge of Dayton at the moment is that there is a Cracker Barrel there. :)
You have my sincerest sympathy. Most of Ohio I'm happy to give a positive plug for, but I've just had too many family reunion type things in Dayton. Where I lived in Columbus, there were a lot of kids whose families were from Dayton. Basically, it's a place people leave. Maybe it's improved in recent years, though, who knows.
You could visit the slum that was a nice neighborhood 100 years ago where my great-great-grandmother lived next door to the Wright Brother's bicycle shop...
If you happen to have ample free time, Columbus is just an hour away...
