For my Anything Goes audition tonight, which would be better: "I Hate Men" or "Always True to You in My Fashion"?

(I'll probably look dumb when [livejournal.com profile] lemurtanis weighs in with a more show-clue opinion, but anyways.)

Knowing your voice, I'd say either one would sound fabulous. I think it depends what role you're trying out for. If you're auditioning for Reno, either one would work for that. If you're also interested in trying for Mrs. Harcourt, "I Hate Men" is probably better--and if you want to discourage them from considering you for Mrs. Harcourt, "Always True To You In My Fashion" is a better choice. (Obviously that's a better choice if you're planning to audition for Bonnie, but IIRC she's kind of ditzy so I assume you're not.) Of course either one would work for the ensemble--I don't remember if there are any smaller women's solo roles. Break a leg!!!!

I've always preferred "Always True to You", myself.

I don't know, but now you have me humming _Anything Goes_. Hmph.

(I like "I Hate Men", but I haven't really heard you sing lately enough to be able to comment intelligently.)

Either song works, and I can easily see you having fun with both of them.

I'm personally more fond of "Always True to You." I'm very amused by my mental image of you singing it too. =)

I had the same comment. :) Not that it's bad, just interesting.

See, I was thinking "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?"

Welcome to reason number thirty-eight that I don't audition for musicals.

I'm late chiming in (was asleep for most of yesterday recovering from vacation), but I hope you picked "Always True". I love both of those songs, but "Always True" has a better melody, and I think you would carry it off well.
