Thoughts on a love song.

Some of my fellow Legends players and I have been getting together to sing various more-or-less game-appropriate stuff. This is an outgrowth of the usual evening campfire gathering at events, and our desire to actually practice occasionally. We're developing into a decent quartet (three women and one man), though we're not going to be making a professional debut anytime soon.
Anyway, after our latest session, one of the others lent me a CD she'd burned with recordings of some of the songs we often do and some other songs we may learn in the future. One of the latter is "Waly, Waly," otherwise known as "The Water Is Wide."
I am, generally speaking, reasonably content to be single. But when I hear songs like this, I wish I had someone to sing them to or about.
Oh the water is wide,
I cannot cross o'er.
And neither have I
Wings to fly.
But give me a boat
That can carry two,
And both shall row,
My love and I.
There is a ship
That sails the sea.
It's loaded deep
As deep can be,
But not as deep
As the love I'm in;
I care not if
I sink or swim.
Autumn is long
And winter too;
My love is gone
Like morning dew.
I long for spring
And summer winds
And my true love
Safe in my view.
Oh the water is wide,
I cannot cross o'er.
And neither have I
Wings to fly.
But when my heart
Returns to me,
Ne'er shall we part
Eternally.
