  • Wow, even given the chance to be anonymous, you folks are nice. :) (And whoever you are, please don't feel guilty.)
  • The Cough of Doom is receding. It's not gone, but it's much improved. (There's hope, [livejournal.com profile] greenlily!) We'll see what happens this week when I have to sing in chest voice again, but I think things are improving.
  • Easter was very nice, as usual. Lots of gorgeous flowers in the sanctuary, and good music (Hallelujah Chorus, and an anthem I really enjoyed -- with the very English refrain of "Merry merry merry merry merry may we be/As bird upon the berry of the may or cherry tree/And as we stand with harp in hand/On the shore of the Red, Red Sea," and the Widor toccata for postlude), and more hats than usual! Our interim rector preached. He's from Jamaica, and oh my can the man preach. I wish we could keep him! We need someone with his energy to wake this church up a bit. If he were our rector, I might start attending church even when we aren't playing bells.
  • The one down side to the service this year was that for some reason they added incense. We're not usually that High Church about things. I got a big waft of the incense at the beginning of the second service, which set my cough off but good -- had to leave the sanctuary for a few minutes. Silly incense.
  • Had Easter dinner with my college friends W and L who recently moved back to the area, and with their two kids -- one four years old, the other four or five months old. The four-year-old is wonderfully bright and verbal, which surprises me not a whit knowing his parents. And he made me feel all kinds of special at one point -- W's father called, and while J (the son) was talking to his grandpa, he said, "And then at night, something really exciting happened -- Katherine came over!"
  • Had a Bath & Body Works splurgelet last night on my way home from work: a tub of cracked heel treatment cream for my poor messy feet, and a bottle of lemongrass-mandarin scented body lotion. I do love citrusy scents, and this will be nice to have on my desk at work for an occasional pick-me-up.
  • Would my various MIT alumni friends keep an eye on alumni magazines and such for any mention or obituary of my grandfather? Thanks. (He was on the MIT faculty from 1937 to 1975, which is longer than I realized, and was also the first housemaster of McCormick Hall and at one time director of the MIT Press.)
  • Work is going to be busy for the next month or so. Which of course coincides with rehearsals getting busy. Ah well; at least it's not correlations...
  • I think I'm out of things to say.
