I just had an inspiration for something to do for a gift for my mother. I have a bunch of clothes she made me when I was little (she used to make me a new dress or outfit every year for my birthday), and fabric leftovers from some others. Obviously, I'm never going to wear them again, and it seems kind of silly to hang onto them, but at the same time there's a lot of sentimental value to them. I want to make something -- a pillow, a hanging, a small blanket, I dunno -- with them. A fabric-covered photo album?

I don't think I have the patience to do quilting for real, but something patchworky is what I have in mind. Anyone have any suggestions?

So, I took some photos of Francesca, a poodle who occasionally visits my office. And, well, one of them came out kind of oddly, so herewith...

Attend the tale of Frannie dog.
Her fur was gray as November fog.
So many pups heard her dainty bark,
Then never thereafter came home from the park.
She'd always prance, she'd never jog;
Not Frannie,
Not Frannie dog,
The deeeeemon poodle of Fleet Street! )
