Poll results.
Aug. 9th, 2006 02:31 pmSo I've gone through your responses to my poll so far.
General observations:
( The results by country and gender. )
This exercise in random polling brought to you by the weird place that is Kath's brain.
General observations:
- There was less variation in men's names than women's. I believe this tends to be true of names in general, but there was certainly more agreement among men's names than women's in this poll.
- Italian male names showed the least variation (11 different names, of which one received 6 votes), followed by Scottish male names (12 different names, of which one received 8 votes -- the most votes for any one name in any group) and German male names (12 different names, one of which received 6 votes). German women showed the most (19 different names, of which none received more than two votes). French and Italian women each had 17 different names.
- I suspect my friends' perceptions of names have been influenced by Highlander, Gilbert & Sullivan, and Nintendo. Though of course I can't prove that. :)
