Sort of a real update.
Feb. 13th, 2007 08:50 amI haven't been posting much real content lately, it seems. Mostly memes and random snippets. I'm not sure why, really; just haven't felt inspired, I guess.
I've been feeling very domestic lately. I've done a lot of cooking and baking (Saturday morning muffins, yum!), and some sewing (some of which I've shared here). I've been working out regularly, thanks to the support from
rawr_comm -- some swimming and some using the elliptical trainer. It feels good to be getting active, and I'm hoping that it'll make a difference come LARP season and other events.
I've been doing a lot of crosswords too, of course, though not as many as some folks do.
mabfan brings me the NYT and times me on it every work morning, and I've been working my way through collections of Sunday puzzles. No, I'm not planning on posting times -- I rarely time myself on the Sundays, because I'm usually doing them on the subway, which hardly counts as tournament conditions. I still am not as fast as I'd like to be, and I don't see that changing much -- so my only hope is that there's another killer puzzle 5 this year. And that I don't make any stupid mistakes. I suspect I'll do well if I ever actually make it into the A finals, because that type of puzzle is my strong suit, and I do well under pressure (usually). It's getting there that's the problem.
My mother and I are planning a trip to the Galapagos islands for next winter. It won't be cheap, but it will be a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing, so it's exciting. Other than that and the usual puzzle travels, I'm not planning a lot of travel this year. Among other things, I have to pay for my own trip to Con now, so that's a financial hit I've been spared the past few years. :)
There's really not a whole lot to report, I guess. Life's been pretty quiet of late, which isn't a bad thing. I'm enjoying the lower stress level brought about by not being Enigma editor. (I should find a solving partner now that I'm a solver again.) I'm also not doing any shows this spring, so I have more free time than I'm accustomed to. I'm sure it'll fill up again soon, but it's kind of nice to have some quiet time. I should spend some of that time really working on my singing for future endeavors (and for my upcoming solo with the bell choir on the -- yikes! -- 25th of this month).
And finally, a repost of the silly "send me valentines" thing.
