Two random observations.

1. "America the Beautiful" really should be our national anthem.
2. The line "Oh beautiful for patriot's dream/That sees beyond the years/Thine alabaster cities gleam/undimmed by human tears" has never felt the same since 9/11.

That takes me back...

Watching the DNC delegates dancing around in Invesco Field to "Born in the USA" takes me back. The first rock concert I ever saw was Bruce Springsteen, on the "Born in the USA" tour, at Mile High Stadium, which Invesco replaced a few years ago.

I went with my parents, of all things. We had tickets in the very very top row of the stadium. It was freezing up there. We ended up leaving early because we were so cold. But I got the t-shirt, with Springsteen's butt in jeans with the hat hanging out of the pocket on it. For once, I was almost cool. (Except for the whole going with my parents thing.)
