Weekend update, and a meme.

My weekend, in handy bullet point form:
And, a meme, from all over everywhere.
As you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad.
When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.
- Ordered my new computer. After much comparing and seeking advice, I settled on a Toshiba M50. Not top of the line, but considerably better (and lighter) than my old one. Also got a new printer and a wireless router.
- Now I just have to keep the old one functioning till the new one arrives. I basically can't move it; I have the power cord duct-taped to the back of the screen to keep it in the only position in which it seems to work, and that doesn't even always work. Sheesh.
- Saw one of my Anything Goes castmates (the one who played Sir Evelyn, for those few of you that saw the show) as Fagin in a production of Oliver! out in Foxboro. Excellent show. I'd never noticed before how much Fagin is a stereotypical stage Jew. Even the orchestration of "Reviewing the Situation" has a lot of what I think of as traditionally Jewish musical elements.
- Rang handbells. I get the weirdest calluses from bellringing.
- They've started installing the new organ at church. I need to take pictures tonight at handbell rehearsal. It's fascinating to see all the pipes and pieces.
- Did some laundry and Enigma work, so it wasn't totally unproductive.

Date: 2005-11-14 05:44 pm (UTC)And yes, "Reviewing The Situation" contains deliberately Klezmer-esque clarinet solos and the stringendo common to tunes used for dancing the hora, among other cultural musical references. :)

Date: 2005-11-15 03:51 am (UTC)A very good choice, if you ask me, from what I've seen of its specs in past.
And now the memory thing:
In the spring of 1987, I hit you on the head with a (real wooden Louisville Slugger) baseball bat, though I hadn't intended to. We just wanted to make it look like that on film, but I overextended the arc over my shoulder by a bit.
Sorry about that!
Too bad that film trailer was eaten by the projector during its first screening! I wish I still had a copy.

Date: 2005-11-15 04:31 am (UTC)My memory here: you agreeing to switch places with Xemu and become the editor instead of keeping your nice cushy VP position. You lifted a giant weight from me.

Flowing and growing.
A river is flowing
down to the sea.
Mother, carry me;
A child I will always be.
Mother, carry me
down to the sea.
