Well, yesterday was annoying. My work computer refused to start up in the morning, and had to be carted off to Tech Support Land. Apparently it was so dead they had to replace it. Mercifully, they were able to get my files off it first. So I have a replacement this morning, and life is back in order.

Intercon was a lot of fun. I played in five games, one of which I hadn't planned on but got roped into at the last minute (and rather wished I hadn't when it was over, frankly). Of the four I intended to play, all four were fun, though in varying degrees. One was a throughout-the-weekend puzzle game, which was okay but nothing too exciting.

Of the others:

I started off playing a young warrior who suddenly finds herself a prophet of a new god in "A Question of Faith." I got to wear the black leather bodice over a white poofy shirt and carry my boffer sword around among a bunch of people wearing cloaks and robes, and didn't have to deal with most of the politicking in the plot, so that was good. I had one of the assistant GMs more or less assigned to me, playing the god who was talking to me, and I got to be righteously indignant a couple of times, and fail to be at all subtle.

Then there was "'Tis No Deceit to Deceive the Deceiver," the opera LARP. Unfortunately, my major backstory element never came into game, because there was never a good reason for me to reveal it and lots of good reasons for me not to, so I didn't get to do as much as I would have liked. But I got to sing some of my songs, and be very amused by the scariest pair of gold lame pants I've ever seen someone wear.

The third game, "Wizards," was the one I was most concerned about having fun with, because it sounded like it could be all politics. But as it turned out, as one of the gypsies, I had a blast. We got everything we wanted and had to do almost no politics to get it. Stealing artifacts? Sure, we can do that... ;)

The other people there were, as you might suspect, a mixed bag. Some seemed friendly and reasonably clueful, while others were attempting to be friendly but didn't have the social clue to back it up, and a few had some issues with respecting boundaries. I don't know that I made any new lifelong friends, but there were certainly people who I wouldn't mind seeing again. I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] meranthi talked me into going, and that [livejournal.com profile] qarylla and [livejournal.com profile] thastygliax were there to help me find my footing.

In other news, Patience is occasionally trying my patience, but is making reasonable progress. Our women's chorus do a very funny job with "thinking of nothing at all."

And -- well, I've been keeping this quiet so far, but I will recommend that everyone check out the "City Weekly" section of the Boston Sunday Globe on March 19.

That's going to be a neat trick for some of us. What's the scoop?

Glad you had fun. :) I wish I'd had more time for schmoozing, but it was nice to get some LARPing in.

Hopefully, you'll fill us remote folks in on the Globe piece after the fact? :D

(I mean, not only am I nowhere near Boston, but I'll be 200 miles from home that day.)
