The concert choir at MIT, tonight,
Is singing "Requiem" by Mr. Brahms.
I'd like to hear it -- but, here is the rub:
Can I sit comfortably in Kresge hall
(The large one) for that length of time, or not?
To sit without my foot propped up is hard
(The knee immobilizer's in the way).
And also, now, I seem to have a cough
Which would be rather rude to others there.
And yet, I'd like to go. Alas, alas!
That I should be so torn on what to do.
(Of course, things could be worse, I well know that.)

May I suggest that homeward bound you go?
I'm sure you have the Brahms on MP3.

I'm not even going to try blank verse.. but perhaps you could call the venue and inquire about handicap seating?

If it were Verdi's (yea, or Mozart's) I'd
Say go, and brave it out for art.
But as it's only Brahms's, best to stay
At home, rest up, and go to hear it sung
Another time, when you can be more sure
That questions such as these do not apply.

An alternate idea I might suggest
Would be "Vivaldi Gloria." Tonight
The Harvard Radcliffe Chorus will perform
And I'll be there. I cannot say
That it won't be as hard upon your foot
As MIT would be, but there you go.
(Am I my girlfriend's pusher? Maybe so.)

Tonight's [livejournal.com profile] lignota's concert? Bloody hell.
I meant to go to that one if I could.
My high school choir sang some "Gloria" excerpts
and I quite liked it. Not to mention, when
a friend comes out to see a show you're in,
it's only decent to return the favor.
Oh well. I've got my ticket for the Brahms
and eagerly await the Fugue Of Doom. :)

Indeed it is. My sense of duty says
I ought to scold you now, and so I do
But really, just a little, so don't fret.

(Kudos, by the by, for your first line.)

Why, thank you. *blush* Does it at all appease
your sense of duty if I specify
that [livejournal.com profile] mrmorse is singing in the Brahms?
I wouldn't miss a friend's performance just
to sit at home and read or watch TV,
but duty to one's roommate's paramount. :)

Ah, yes, it surely does, at least for me.
I know not if [livejournal.com profile] lignota will concur,
But I don't think she follows this LJ.
(Unless, I guess, she's reading my friends page.)

It isn't clear to me, I must admit,
That one can use a *blush* like any word.
Does one pronounce it? *shrug* I, for one, would not.
The Bard left out such cues, so who can tell?
