Can anyone find me a map showing the spread of the 1918-19 influenza pandemic worldwide? I've found one for the US, but I'd like to find one for the world.

If you're bored...

On a multi-hour phone meeting. Could I be more bored?

Found a Web article that says news accounts of the epidemic were censored in many countries due to the war. That might be why the data is hard to come by.

I'm guessing that you saw the animated WGBH map of the US, correct? There's nothing like that for the whole world, but I did find this:

http://www.stanford.edu/group/virus/uda/

It includes a description of how the disease spread rapidly via trade routes and shipping lines. Outbreaks swept through North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Brazil and the South Pacific
(Taubenberger). In India the mortality rate was extremely high at around 50 deaths from influenza per 1,000 people (Brown). The Great War, with its
mass movements of men in armies and aboard ships, probably aided in its rapid diffusion and attack.
