If they'd split my sternum open and done heart-valve surgery on me, I expect I'd be a cranky, sore, unhappy mess a week later.

My mother has no pain to speak of, and the hard part is going to be keeping her from doing too much too soon. Everyone who sees her says how amazingly well she looks, and I agree.

Oh, and the Rockies swept the Yankees. Life is good. :)

L33t!

I agree with you - splitting the sternum open sounds like TONS of fun. Eek! Glad to hear that it all went well.

Wow, that's impressive! Best wishes to her.

I'm sure you'll make sure that she doesn't go skydiving before she's 100% ready.

Wonderful! (We knew she was amazing already, of course.)

Do you know what "too much too soon" is? Did her doctor(s) tell you? There's at least some suspicion with my dad that more is NOT always better, and that his shoulder is or was worse off/more easily re-injured than they it have been if he'd stuck to only the amount of rehab exercises he was supposed to do, and not upped them and/or started to try to throw/catch so soon, etc.

Such great news! When my husband's grandfather had his heart surgery, the hardest thing for him was not being able to drive. But he had his son staying with him, and I'm sure your being there is making it easier for your mom too.

I'm so glad your mom is recovering so easily and quickly! I'm glad you've been able to take care of her, and that doing so hasn't been too hard on you.

(The icon is the bluebird who hung around my birdfeeders during our late snowstorm this spring. They're not usually feeder birds, so it was fun to watch him!)
