Went to the doctor, got tetanus shot. The toe was looking kind of red and angry, and had been getting more and more tender through the day. Doctor gave me five days of antibiotics as well, to keep it from getting any worse. It's definitely sore -- I just bumped it on something, and ow. But, with the shot and the antibiotics, it should turn out fine. My arm will probably be sore the next couple of days from the shot, but it isn't yet.

Here's the culprit (the straighter end is the one that got me):
metal

...sigh. Kath the klutz strikes again...

Maybe you should send the city a bill for your tetanus shot?

"springsteel" is the term I usually hear for that.

As discussed previously, certain people keep an eye for them to convert to cheap lockpicks. I prefer to use them as musical instruments.

Ow! May I strongly recommend a dose of ibuprofen (or naproxen, second choice) as soon as possible, and more at bedtime? It'll help with both toe and arm.

Whoa. Now that I see the shard I'd totally tell you to complain to the city.

I think my reaction would have been as follows:

Ow.
glance downward
OW!!!

That thing is NASTY! I'm glad you're getting your toe taken care of.

We have plenty of toe trauma here (we're constantly calling the toe truck), and I find that a good hot soak in salted water can help an irritated and angry distal phalange feel much better.

Wishing you a quick healing!

Oog! I had to get a tetanus shot a couple of years ago because I got a very nasty splinter. I'm so sorry! I also felt like it was adding insult to injury. Everyone has already given you good advice. I'll suggest: When your foot is healed, go get a pedicure for a treat!

Well, at least you didn't sprain your ankle this time. :)

And if it helps ease the pain any, I cut myself - like big time - shaving my head this morning. I'll probably have what look like ferret-size Freddy Krueger claw slash marks in my scalp once the bandages come off.

Oooo no getting hurt before LARP season! Ah well, I'd tell you to make sure to take good care of it but you obviously are already. ;)
