Work is being depressing, so I thought I'd try and be positive a bit.

Things I like today:

  • Finding Men Without Hats songs on iTunes. (Yes, I like my 80's synth-pop. So there!)
  • Seeing other large-size women at the gym, showing off what their bodies can do.
  • The cheery daffodils in a coworker's office.
  • The silver and turquoise jewelry I got in Ecuador.
  • Dancing.
  • Knowing that someone's left me valentines.
  • Having pancakes and bacon for supper last night (Shrove Tuesday).
  • Regardless of its outcome, the evening spent watching the Super Bowl with a roomful of geeks.
  • Browsing the web wistfully looking at costumes.

What do you like today?

I grew up with a Bruno Walter recording, but recently I've been listening to the Kurt Masur / Gewandhausorchester Leipzig one from the '80's. I still haven't found my ideal performance.

A few years ago, someone posted a screencap of the iTunes store's "helpful" search suggestion when Men Without Hats came up blank. I believe the store asked, "Did you mean Me without Hits?" Thanks, but I prefer my music shopping without the editorials.

I like having 33 giant bins filled with stuff ready to GO and bunches of small ones.
I like being able to do my (non-paper) dishes by throwing them away.
I like the fact that I just took 8 ginormous bags of stuff outside that I never have to look at again.

And now I've got The Safety Dance in my head. :)

Sax, I also had pancakes for dinner last night. Well, crepes, actually, provided by my resident Brit. That was still making me happy today.

I like that the presidential nominees still haven't been decided. The peopoe in those late-voting places will know that they really do matter, and that their votes really do make a difference.

Today, I like
Learning to juggle

- going fabric-shopping over lunch to find black silk (for lining a dress)
- that my boss is 'working from home', and my co-worker's at the other office, and I'm low on orders, so I'm kicking back and reading fic online..
- thinking about how I'm going to cut my new Regency ballgown (tonight's project)
- my iPod mix, which has just played me a random assortment of Lee Presson, Great Big Sea, Loreena McKennitt, and Diana Krall that worked really well to lift my mood.

- that Janders laughed in her sleep for the first time
- that my mom is here helping me with the kids

  • knowing that there's lots of garlic in the fridge
  • thinking about how my mom will smile when she gets the thank you bouquet that Ed & I sent her for hosting us at her place in SoBe this week
  • going out with a guy who suggests getting my mom a thank you bouquet
  • having friends who, when they get a bit down, don't go all emo, but rather suggest that everyone write about what makes them happy
  • not having to write next year's mystery hunt
