Six degrees?

Okay, I'm going to try this -- a six-degrees experiment of my own, sort of.



There was this kid I knew in elementary school. His name was Joel Cahalan. He moved away -- I have a vague memory that it was to Maryland, but I could be wrong -- when I was still in elementary school, but I still remember him. He was a redhead, and lived with his dad; I don't know if his mother was dead or they were divorced or what. Like me, he went to Eisenhower Elementary School in Boulder, Colorado, and played in Boulder Junior Soccer.

My Google searching has come up empty, except to indicate that someone by that name lives or lived in Whittier, Minnesota.

I would love to find him and get in touch again. Anyone know anyone who might know someone who might know how to find him?

I keep forgetting that you grew up in Colorado. :) I went to University Hill school for 3rd grade. About the only thing I remember from then is the amazing rivalry between us and one of the other schools, which at at 8 (or whatever) I really could have cared less.

Uni Hill! :) I don't remember elementary school rivalries. By the time we got to junior high, there were -- Platt was Burbank's rival (I went to Burbank) -- but not in elementary school.

We must have been in elementary school in Boulder at roughly the same time. Whodathunk we'd have met so many years later? :)

Too true. I was only there for 79-80 and 83-84. What disturbs me most, is the Uni Hill is now a middle school, not elementary. Though it may have changed again since I was there last...:)

Tried that. No luck. If he's there, it's not under his own name. Either that, or I've forgotten how to spell his last name. I do know it was ka-HAY-lun, not Callahan.

If Joel moved from Boulder to Maryland in 1979, and especially if he had a brother named Gabriel, I think it likely that this is his father. You could try the e-mail address for Dr. Cahalan on the page.

Good grief. Yes, that may very well be his father. (Pity the image is broken, because I expect I'd recognize the face.) I don't remember a Gabriel, but I suppose it's possible. Or it may be that Gabriel was Joel's other name or something.

Gabriel was a college undergraduate in fall 1993, making him class of '94 at the earliest and a candidate for Joel's younger brother.

Good god. My memory of Joel's father's face is fuzzy, but that picture does look about right.
