saxikathThis evening, while cleaning and such, I've been indulging in my own private holiday tradition: watching the video of the one Christmas Revels I was in. It's making me very nostalgic for Breton music and my cannoli hat (no, I am not kidding; third head from the right in the top photo on this page -- someday I should really scan in the photo I have that shows it better) and John Fleagle (rest his soul) singing "Livaden Ker-Ys" and dueling bombards and Breton folk dances. And yes, even the cheesy Revels English versions of some of the songs.
Maybe I should do Revels again one of these years. Even though it does swallow December.
When I was in New Hampshire for Thanksgiving, my aunt and I went to a Revels Pub Sing in Hanover, led by David Coffin (who has family up there and was there for the holiday). Fun stuff.
I need to perform again. Been too long.
